Samantha says: “Art in its own way is a silent communication and like the world that Michael and I live in relies on visual expression. This is a drawing of Michael, a nine year old non-verbal autistic boy, showing his reaction to a barely audible sound which is causing him pain. I, as an artist, tried capturing this moment in time, and as a mother I understand and translate this pure form of communication. This language that he and I share, art and non-verbal communication, is precious and subtle, between mother and special child. I hope you can see it too”.  |
